Neighborhood security is up to all of us. The following are suggestions to enhance our security:
1. Keep adequate locks and bolts on all doors. Keep windows locked.
2. Keep sufficient outside lighting around your home.
3. Do not give personal information over the phone.
4. Teach your children not to open doors when you are unable to answer.
5. Vary your schedule and avoid a rigid routine.
6. Park your cars in the garage if possible and in the driveway if not.
7. Alert your neighbors when you are away for an extended time.
8. Engrave your valuables with your Texas driver's licence number.
9. Report any suspicious activity to the Constable's office--281-376-3472.
10. While on vacation:
--Alert your neighbors that you will be gone.
--Tell them if you expect visitors to your house while you are gone.
--Have your mail picked up or have it held by the post office (www.usps.gov)
--Have newspapers picked up by your neighbor or hold delivery.
--Make your empty house look lived in by using light timers and radios.
--You can submit a vacation watch request to the Harris County Sheriff.
